The Cairns Performing Arts Centre is due to final completing on 15 December 2018. Level of Aussie $ will lure Tourists
Currently the Australian Dollar is sitting just above $0.70c U.S.D which will make Australia (+ Cairns) an ever increasingly attractive destination for overseas tourists to visit! Australia is considered a very safe country to venture & is on the ‘wish list’ as the No1 destination of International travellers.
The three (3) new hotels coming on-line this year, 2019 & 2020 must be looking at future occupancy levels with justified enthusiasm & also the many smaller tourism related resorts & accommodation houses! All positive news for Cairns’ future.
Wow - Two (2) Very Exciting Sales!
Both Rachel Blok & Paul Stirling recorded outstanding sales at Buchans Point, Palm Cove & Tari Place in Trinity Beach recently.
It is believed the sale price at Palm Cove is the highest price ever achieved for a residential house & certainly the sale at Trinity Beach has recorded a record price within the sought after gated community of Trinity Circle.
Cairns to Canberra!
Numerous delegates from the Cairns business community descended upon the nations’ capitol last week to discuss topics regarding road planning and investment, water and energy security, management of the Great Barrier Reef and other vital infrastructure which Cairns is currently lacking. Cairns’ Mayor Bob Manning joined by fellow Far North Queensland Mayors state that they had an extensive agenda representing strategic economic priorities, these issues which are believed to be holding back the Far North from its true potential. The group of delegates discussed these important matters over 3 days before returning to Cairns on Thursday, 8th September.
Trintiy Beach 'Vibe'
Under a perfect clear blue sky & a calm turquoise coloured Coral Sea, Trinity Beach was on show last weekend, hosting the Inaugural family vibe event. Hosted by ‘Rotary’ & supporting bodies, multiple food vans; two (2) boutique local breweries provided varieties of food & ale to a backdrop of casual music & terrific weather! One frequent Trinity Beach visitor from Melbourne was high in his praise for the event which is now likely to appear more frequently on the 2019 calendar.

The Crocodile Trophy is the oldest Mountain Bike (MTB) stage race in the world and has its home in the heart of one of the most beautiful holiday destinations on earth: Tropical North Queensland in Australia. Katchafire (New Zealand) and EarthKry (Jamaica) - Cairns
Sunday 4 November at The Jack, Cairns with EarthKry and Jelly Oshen at 6pm. NZ’s Katchafire will be joined by Jamaican maestros EarthKry on the ‘Legacy Love Today’ Australia 2018 tour! Whilst this will be EarthKry’s first trip down under, earlier this year they joined Katchafire on their USA tour and they guarantee they are going soothe your soul with their wholesome fusion of Roots Reggae and Rock! Also joining the line-up is up and coming Cairns roots artist Jelly Oshen. Katchafire’s new ‘Legacy’ album is exciting and fresh with messages of love, hope, togetherness, and family; with the 12 songs on this album being recorded in numerous studios around the world from New Zealand and Australia to LA and Hawaii to Jamaica, featuring collaborations with some of reggae’s finest. Recent line-up changes have added new fuel to the ‘Fire and the first three singles from the ‘Legacy’ album—‘Addicted’, ‘Way Beyond’ and 'Love Today'—have been picking up airplay on roots reggae radio and added to playlists around the world with 'Love Today' hitting the Top 20 on the Global Reggae Chart and a new video for “100” will be revealed soon! Great Barrier Reef Masters Games
The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games are a celebration of Masters sport in the beautiful location of Cairns, in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland. Now in its fourth games the GBR Masters will be held from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 May 2019. 2,000 masters-aged men and women from Australia, Oceania and South East Asia are anticipated to compete in 20 individual and team sports across the four days of competition with sports for all masters ages and interests. Cairns is the ideal location to host the Games, being one of Australia's most popular holiday destinations with a myriad of local attractions, dining, adventure sports, reef activities and entertainment within close proximity to the city centre. The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games also offers a nightly entertainment program to complement the daily sporting program, providing an opportunity for participants to socialise and experience the destination’s adventure and hospitality.
C2K Bike Ride
Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride is a truly epic adventure that you will talk about for a lifetime. Whether you are a rider (road or dirt), a supporter or a volunteer, there is a place for everyone on the 2019 Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride. The seven day Cairns to Karumba bike-ride has been Queensland’s greatest fun bicycle ride for the past 21 years. In June/July each year, over 250 riders, volunteers and support crews travel through the unique and historic outback towns of the iconic Savannah Way raising funds to make sure bush kids get a fair-go. The kids line the route and say g’day with cheering, banners and flags. Riders can choose to participate in the 780 kilometre 'Road Ride' - Rugged Roadies or the rigorous 'Dirt Ride' - Dirty Boys that works its way through stations right across the Cape. The Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride is a brilliant adventure for everyone, riders, supporters or volunteers! Take in the sights and sounds of a magnificent part of Far North Queensland that most people will simply never get to experience.
Cairns Indigenous Art Fair
From where ever you are, come and join Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, and immerse yourself in a CIAF experience of your own. The CIAF 2019 cultural festivities will take place on 12 to 14 July, opening night 11 July 2019. In 2018, 45000 people attended across all venues enjoying the diversity of Far North Queensland Indigenous culture and taking the chance to attend and buy the latest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island art from across Queensland, at the CIAF Art Market and Art Fair. The now famous CIAF daily program offers free traditional dance and music performances, artist and industry talks, art workshops, theatre and film screenings. Cairns cultural venues offer a variety of art form events and gallery exhibitions, creating a celebratory feeling citywide.
Targa Great Barrier Reef
Targa Great Barrier Reef will be the first ever Targa event held in Queensland and the event name joins two iconic brands under the one banner. The new event will be based in one of Australia’s iconic tourism locations, Cairns and will reach out to all of the surrounding regions including Port Douglas and the Atherton Tablelands. The inaugural event will be held on August 31 and September 1 and 2, 2018 on a course of over 200 competitive kilometres, including the exciting range roads out of Cairns and Port Douglas, which if you have ever been to the region, you will agree are some of the most exciting roads in the country. Targa Great Barrier Reef will be a Targa event like no other as it passes through landscapes that are truly unique to Tropical North Queensland. Sugar cane and banana plantations will line the various stages and the weather will be anything but cold, being held at an ideal time of the year.
